(La Porte County, IN) - A driver who struck a tree outside Michigan City is accused of driving impaired.

 

 

 

Cassaundra Ramsay, 49, is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with Level 6 felony operating while intoxicated.  La Porte County Police about 8 p.m. on Friday were called to Love’s Truck Stop on U.S. 421 just south of Interstate 94.  Police said the Ohio woman struck the tree while turning into the parking lot of the establishment.  Ramsay denied consuming alcohol but showed major symptoms of impairment, police said.

 

She was taken into custody after allegedly refusing to take a breathalyzer test.  The charge was upgraded to a felony due to Ramsay having a prior OWI conviction.
