La Porte County, IN) - Strong winds this morning have resulted in power outages throughout the area.

 

According to NIPSCO, there were more than 500 customers without power in its Westville service territory while over 200 customers were without power in the Michigan City area.  Over 160 customers were  also without service in the Mill Creek area.

 

Indiana Michigan Power Company reports over 100 customers without service in parts of northern La Porte County.   Outages are impacting more than 3,000 Indiana Michigan Power customers in the South Bend and Niles area.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for La Porte County and surrounding areas throughout the rest of the day with gusts reaching 50 miles per hour or more.
