(Michigan City, IN) - There are plans for a car wash where the Red Lobster restaurant used to be in Michigan City.

 

 

Attorney Chris Willoughby, who represents the property owners on Franklin St. south of U.S. 20, said six million dollars would be invested in building the car wash.

 

He told the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals on Tuesday the owners have a solid reputation in other communities they operate.  Willoughby said the owners are from a family owned business since 1948.

 

“They have a vast number of awards as well as recognition from communities in terms of their involvement,” he said.

 

The owners’ request for a zoning variance resulted in a tie vote from the board, which is expected to vote again on the proposal next month when an odd number of zoning board members should be in attendance to decide the matter.
