(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte man is accused of causing a woman to lose an eye from a beating.  Michael Layton, 32, is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with aggravated battery and criminal confinement, both Level 3 felonies, along with Level 5 felony domestic battery and Class A misdemeanor invasion of privacy.

La Porte Police said the beating came after he violated a protective order issued by the courts because of past acts of violence against the woman.  It’s alleged he also confined the woman to her apartment for about two weeks before she was able to escape and obtain medical care.

Police said her eye will have to be surgically removed due to the damage.  The investigation is ongoing.
