Family Fun Center Nears Possible Construction

(La Porte, IN) - Plans for a large family fun center in La Porte could start going up sometime this year.

That’s according to Bert Cook, Executive Director of the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership.

There would be plenty of arcade games and pinball machines along virtual sports games, miniature golf and other things like a restaurant and bar in the over 33,000 square foot facility on a six acre site at New Porte Landing behind Kroger.

The city approved the plans about a year and a half ago.  Cook said it appears the work that’s been occurring behind the scenes ever since in areas like financing is reaching the finish line.

“We feel like we’re close to the end with them where they can get started on their construction.  They are in those kind of final days of financing and getting everything ready,” he said.

Cook said he hopes construction can begin as soon as this spring.  The estimated cost of building the facility is about 10 million dollars.  Officials believe people from outside the city would come here to take advantage of the family fun center offerings.
