(La Porte County, IN) - Another position has been created for the Jane Bernard Animal Adoption Center in La Porte County.

The La Porte County Council last night granted a request by shelter director Brooke Kegebein to hire an assistant director.  Councilman Brett Kessler expressed his support, feeling an added staff member will be good to assist the shelter in recovering from recent struggles.

“I know Brooke’s got things going on there in a good direction from where we had been but she could use another hand.  I don’t think this is a bad idea,” he said.

Kegebein is the fourth director at the county government owned shelter since 2021 when Bernard retired after being in charge of the shelter for more than 30 years.
