(Porter County, IN) - A Porter County sheriff’s deputy struck by a vehicle in a weather related crash yesterday remains hospitalized.

Sgt. Josh Crane was investigating a vehicle sliding off the road when hit about 2 p.m. on State Road 49 south of Route 6.  Police said Crane is currently in stable condition.  No details were provided on the extent of his injuries.

Police said Crane has been with the Porter County sheriff’s office for close to 10 years.  The accident is being investigated by state police.
