Leads Sought in Theft of Alcohol

(La Porte County, IN) - La Porte County Police are hoping to obtain leads on who ran out of a gas station/convenience store with unpaid containers of alcoholic beverages.

Officers just before 12 p.m. on Friday responded to the Shell station on U.S. 12 near the Michigan state line.  Police said a cashier told investigators a man fled without paying for a six pack and case of alcoholic beverages he had tucked into his arms.

She also said he fled westbound on U.S. 12 in a white sport utility vehicle with Illinois plates.  According to police, the suspect was described as black and tall with a slender build.  The cashier was not able to provide a make or model and license plate number on the fleeing vehicle.

Police said investigators are waiting for the delivery of surveillance video from the store in hopes of obtaining clues on the suspect’s identity.
