Convicted Drug Dealer Back in Jail

(Trail Creek, IN) - A convicted drug dealer living in Trail Creek could face more time behind bars on allegations he was selling narcotics again.

Jeffrey Harris was taken into custody last week at a home where he was staying in the 100 block of Oriole Trail.  Police said a search of the property turned up large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine stored in a lockbox found in Harris’ car, which was parked in the attached garage of the residence.  Three firearms were also discovered in the lockbox.

Permission was given to search the home by a judge who ruled the evidence of drug dealing obtained during an investigation of Harris was strong enough to issue a warrant for the search.

He could face up to 30 years on each of the two drug dealing related counts along with additional time for being a serious violent felon in possession of firearms at the residence.

The ban on him possessing firearms is related to a 2015 conviction for dealing cocaine that resulted in him receiving a six year prison sentence, according to court records.  Harris was being held in the La Porte County Jail on $50,000 bond.
