Guilty Plea in Vehicular Death of Husband

(Michigan City, IN) - A Michigan City woman has admitted to allegations related to the motor vehicle related death of her husband.  Miranda Suarez, 37, pleaded guilty in La Porte Superior Court 1 to voluntary manslaughter, a Level 2 felony.

Authorities say she and her husband, Kyle Suarez, 24, were involved in an altercation in the parking lot of their home at Tall Timbers Apartments in October of 2023.  At point, authorities say she struck her husband with her car while fleeing and did so on purpose.  Sentencing is scheduled in March if the judge accepts the plea.  Suarez could face anywhere from a 10 to 30 year sentence.

In exchange for the plea, a murder charge against her would be dismissed.  Suarez still has charges in a separate case still pending for allegedly trying to recruit people to break into the home of her former attorney and steal money.

Her plan was for them to give her the money to post bond on the charges related to the death and keep what was left, authorities said.
