(Porter County, IN) - The Department of Natural Resources has raised the price of admission to an area state park for out-of-state visitors.
Daily admission to Dunes State Park jumped from $12 to $20 for non-Indiana residents. An annual pass is now $120, up from $70. New prices took effect this month.
Entrance fees have not increased for locals. It’s still just $7 per day or $50 annually for Hoosiers visiting Dunes State Park.
The DNR has calculated that the fee hikes for nonresidents across all state parks will increase revenues by more than $1.5 million. Approximately 91 percent of the operating budget for state parks comes from user fees.
