Force Needed in Arrest of OWI/Crash Suspect

(La Porte County, IN) - It took extra force to arrest a man with a gun following verbal and physical assaults last night in La Porte County.

Tradvyon Hamblin, 29, of Hamlet was booked into the La Porte County Jail on charges of intimidation, domestic battery, resisting law enforcement and operating while intoxicated.

La Porte County Police said officers about 11 p.m. were called to a residence on 860 South where he and his girlfriend were arguing in a vehicle in the driveway.

Family members were trying to calm things down between the couple when Hamblin stepped out of the vehicle and physically assaulted a family member, police said.

Police said Hamblin and the woman left before officers arrived but they were found in the 5200 block of S. Wozniak Road after their vehicle had crashed. Hamblin forcibly resisted arrest and was taken to the ground where additional restraints were placed on him, police said.

A pistol he allegedly had on his possession was recovered in a field where Hamblin was initially found.  He was being held on $15,000 cash only bond.
