(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte woman is facing allegations that include drunk driving and battering a police officer.

 

Laquintae Taborn, 43, was arrested last night for battery to a public safety official, resisting law enforcement and operating while intoxicated.

 

La Porte County Police said Taborn about 9 p.m. was pulled over on Pine Lake Ave. in La Porte for driving over the center line, having expired plates on her vehicle and one working headlight.  Eventually, she was taken to a hospital as a precaution due to her alleged impairment.

 

She refused to cooperate with medical staff, though, and ran from one exam room to another where she was found hiding behind a privacy curtain, police said.

 

After returned to her room, police said Taborn was lying in a bed when she kicked a sheriff’s deputy in the chest and head.  In response, she was secured to her hospital bed with help from others and later transported to the La Porte County Jail.
