(La Porte County, IN) - La Porte County is included in a winter storm warning from lake effect snow issued by the National Weather Service.

The warning for portions of northern Indiana and southwest Michigan is in effect from 6 a.m. CST Wednesday to 12 p.m. CST on Thursday.  According to the National Weather Service, total snow accumulations between 6 and 8 inches are expected along with wind gusts out of the northwest at up to 40 mph.

Roads will become slick and hazardous with impacts expected for the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.  Visibilities may drop to near zero at times due to falling and blowing snow.  Whiteout conditions are likely and will make travel treacherous, according to the National Weather Service.
