Fake I.D. Used to Try and Collect Jackpot

(Michigan City, IN) - A Michigan City man is behind bars on allegations he used a fake I.D. to try and collect his winnings at a casino.  Anthony Flaherty, 64, is facing charges that include fraud and cheating at gambling, both Level 6 felonies.

According to court documents, Flaherty was not allowed to collect his undisclosed amount of winnings at Blue Chip Casino from June of 2024 because he didn’t have a government issued identification card.

He returned to the casino last month to collect those winnings but since the I.D. card he presented belonged to someone else, the casino did not release the funds to him.  Flaherty is also charged with misdemeanor trespassing for being in the casino despite a ban imposed on him being there from 2023, court documents revealed.  The amount of his uncollected winnings was not revealed but it was more than $750, authorities said.
