(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte firefighter has been sworn into his new position as second in command at the department.  Zach Kanney is the assistant fire chief, replacing Kelly Burke.

Kanney was sworn in by Fire Chief Andy Snyder at City Hall on Tuesday.  He then introduced several members of his family, including father, Rob, a retired La Porte firefighter, during the city’s Board of Public Works meeting.  Kanney is an 18 year member of the department.  Burke has stayed on as Battalion Chief.
