(Michigan City, IN) - A 16 year old boy is the suspect in a weekend shooting of another teenager in Michigan City.

 

 

 

Darrien Washington is charged as an adult with three felony counts.  Police said Washington tried robbing another teenager Saturday then shot him at Canterbury Apartments near Michigan City High School.  The victim was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the right buttocks.

 

Police said the investigation indicates several individuals who were with Washington also had guns but were not involved in the incident.  It appears the victim was going to purchase a gun from Washington but the suspect decided to try to take his cash and keep the gun.

 

The victim after tackled to the ground by the suspect was running away from the individuals when shot, police said.  Washington is charged with attempted robbery, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor.
