(South Bend, IN) - The South Bend International Airport had a banner year in 2025. The airport on South Bend’s west side recently announced several milestones.
41 of the top 50 busiest days in the airport’s history took place last year, including 7 days in the top 10. For the first time, the airport saw months of over 50,000 passengers, including a period topping 500 passengers per hour. Total air traffic is expected to surpass one million passengers by the end of the year.
South Bend Airport also added two new routes to Florida and had visits from the Goodyear blimp and some military Blackhawk helicopters.
A new development coming to the South Bend Airport in the coming year is the relocation of the train line that services it. The South Shore Line is working to relocate their route to the west side of the airport and build a new train station.
Recently the South Bend Redevelopment Commission approved $5 million toward the project. South Shore is still counting on a $56 million loan from the federal government to get their plans on track.
