(Walkerton, IN) - A man was arrested following a single-vehicle crash near Walkerton after deputies say he was driving under the influence of drugs.
According to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a crash near State Road 104 and County Road 700 South on December 21st. Investigators say the driver left the scene but was located by Walkerton Police about one mile south of the accident.
Police say the suspect showed signs of impairment during field sobriety test. The suspect also allegedly admitted to deputies that he ingested cocaine prior to the accident, however the police report indicates he refused to take a certified chemical test.
An inventory of the vehicle led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and approximately 0.28 grams of cocaine.
The driver, 40 year old Andrew J. Bohaczek, was taken into custody and transported to the La Porte County Jail, where he faces multiple charges, including operating while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.
