Struggle over a Handgun Ensued During Traffic Stop

(Michigan City, IN) - A traffic stop in Michigan City ended with the arrest of a passenger following a struggle with law enforcement.


According to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office, deputies stopped a GMC Yukon in the parking lot of Love's Travel Stop on North Loves Avenue on December 21st. During the stop, officers say a female passenger resisted deputies and was found to be in possession of a handgun.


Investigators say the situation escalated into a physical struggle, resulting in minor injuries to a deputy. The handgun was recovered and seized as evidence.


The passenger, identified as 48 year old Tai Lyn Mussa, was taken into custody and transported to the La Porte County Jail.  She is facing multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement and unlawful carrying of a handgun.


The incident remains documented as part of an ongoing case file with the sheriff's office.
