(La Porte County) - Friday afternoon was the annual Mayor’s "Ring-Off", a friendly fundraiser between La Porte and Michigan City benefiting the Salvation Army.

Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch raised $11,414, while La Porte Mayor Tom
Dermody brought in $5,922, with strong support from both communities.

All of the money raised will go toward Salvation Army programs that help families and
individuals right here in the area.

Michigan City came out on top this year, but organizers say the real win was seeing both cities come together for a good cause.
