(La Porte, IN) -  The La Porte Civic Auditorium stage has a new name, thanks to a generosity of a local family. At the recent “Holiday at the Pops” concert, the La Porte City Park Foundation announced the creation of the Bowers Family Fund, established to support the Civic Auditorium for generations to come. Edwin and Karen Bowers made a lead gift of $500,000, with more contributions pledged for the future. In recognition, the stage at the La Porte Civic Auditorium has been renamed “The Bowers Family Stage”.

Park Superintendent Mark Schreiber says this contribution could transform the building’s future. He noted that the Fox family provided the original gift for the Civic nearly 100 years ago, and now, the Bowers Family Fund will help ensure it remains a treasured community asset for another century.

The Bowers Family Fund will provide long-term support for maintenance, repairs, and facility improvements. The Foundation is seeking additional donations for the fund and will kick off a fund raising campaign in 2026.
