(New Carlisle IN) - A new access road for the Amazon data center east of New Carlisle has been approved.

Last week the St. Joseph County Commissioners signed off on the road project. They call it a bypass, although it’s more of a frontage road on Larrison Rd east of the sprawling Amazon campus. It will allow easy and safer access to AWS by future Amazon employees.

According to officials, Amazon will pay for the project while the county will be responsible for maintaining the road.

This is not to be confused with the new interchange that will be built at the corner of Larrison and Highway 2. That project is still in the planning stages.
