(La Porte County, IN) - A driver who struck two mailboxes near Michigan City yesterday afternoon was heavily impaired by alcohol.  That’s according to La Porte County Police, who were called to the 3700 block of N. County Line Road after 2:30 p.m.

Clinton Schroder, 51, told investigators he ran over an icy spot causing him to run off the road and strike the mailboxes in his 2003 Dodge RAM pick-up truck, police said.

Schroder was booked into the La Porte County Jail for operating while intoxicated with an alleged blood alcohol level of .247 percent, well above the .08 percent legal limit.
