(La Porte, IN) - A feasibility study will be conducted to help determine the future of Kiwanis Field in La Porte.
The La Porte School Corporation and the group, Preserve Historic La Porte, have agreed to share in the cost of the study. Officials said the 75 year old home of the Slicers football team requires significant repairs to meet the needs of a modern high school athletics program. The study will reveal the extent of the work necessary for restoring the stadium.
After the study is completed, officials said the findings will be shared and evaluated for a committee to make a recommendation to the school board on how to move forward. "This partnership allows us to take a thoughtful, informed approach to determining what Kiwanis Stadium needs to continue serving our students and community." said Assistant Superintendent of Operations Dr. Aaron Owney. No timeframe for making a decision was revealed.
