(La Porte County, IN) - A driver who wound up in a ditch outside La Porte allegedly consumed what’s considered a potentially lethal amount of alcohol.

La Porte County Police about 6 p.m. on Friday were called to the area of Small Road and Timber Ridge Road.  Fortunately, police said 56 year old Holly Hummel was not injured.

She was arrested with an alleged blood alcohol level nearly five times the .08 percent legal limit.

Police said a passerby stopping to check on Hummel called police and stayed with the woman in her vehicle until an officer showed up.
