(La Porte, IN) - A man who drove into a snowbank in La Porte is facing drunk driving charges.

Police said a patrol officer late Monday night witnessed a van drive off the road and hit the snowbank along Pine Lake Ave. outside Pine Lake Resort and Banquets.  According to police, Luis Salas, 30, told the officer he’s staying at the hotel and tried turning into the parking lot but he slid past the entrance and into the snowbank.

The New York man was arrested with an alleged blood alcohol level of .104 percent.  A tow truck removed the van that was stuck in the pile of snow.
