(La Porte, IN) - The courthouse in downtown La Porte is back open today.  It was closed Monday due to low 50 degree temperatures inside parts of the historic structure.

The problem is believed to be the heating system not producing enough heat. La Porte County Commissioner Connie Gramarossa said she hopes experts working to come up with a solution do so in the very near future.

“Hopefully, in the next couple of days, we’ll have a plan by the end of the week and we’ll move forward on trying to get this taken care of,” she said.  In the meantime, she said employees at the courthouse are welcome to use space heaters, if they wish.
