Donuts Lead to OWI Arrest

(La Porte, IN) - A man doing donuts in his vehicle unknowingly in front of the watchful eyes of a police officer in downtown La Porte was arrested for driving impaired.

Victor Jordan, 43, of Michigan City is charged with Class A misdemeanor operating while intoxicated.  According to La Porte County Police, a sheriff’s deputy monitoring traffic last night spotted the 2008 GMC Yukon drive completely into the opposite lane before turning into a parking lot at Washington St. and Michigan Ave.

The driver proceeded to do burnouts and donuts for several moments in the parking lot and was stopped when he began to leave, police said.  Police said the officer after walking up to the vehicle detected a very strong odor of alcohol.

Jordan, who was described by pollice as belligerent during his interaction with the officer, was not given a certified blood alcohol test because he allegedly failed to cooperate with the process.  According to police, Jordan when asked by the officer if he was refusing to take the test stated “shut up.  Don’t talk to me.”
