(La Porte County, IN) - Fire yesterday heavily damaged a home in the Hudson Lake area.

Thomas Jordan, 59, told investigators he was sleeping in his bedroom in the 7600 block of N. Hudson Boulevard when awakened by smoke, according to La Porte County Police.  Jordan then discovered the smoke was coming from a nearby bedroom prior to him leaving the single story dwelling and calling 911.

Police said flames were showing from the burning bedroom and roof area before firefighters started arriving.  No light was shed on whether the cause of the fire was determined.
