(Lowell, IN) - Indiana State Police are investigating several recent instances of "swatting" where several members of the state legislature were targeted.
Swatting is where someone with ill intent contacts law enforcement about a false emergency at a targeted location. The result is to cause a large scale response law enforcement.
ISP is warning the public not only is this potentially dangerous to all involved but swatting is also against the law.
In addition to state police, local, county, and federal law enforcement authorities are working together to try and identify those responsible for these illegal activities.
At least three senators were targeted between November 16 and 20. The three confirmed victims are all Republicans who were against the special session to redistrict Indiana's congressional maps.
