(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte school administrator has been recognized for being one of the best in his profession.

 

Bill Wilmsen has been named the 2025 principal of the year in District 2 of the Indiana Association of School Principals.  The association has 12 districts in the state.

 

Wilmsen is principal at the Kesling campus, which consists of the Kesling Intermediate School and La Porte Middle School.

 

According to school officials, Wilmsen has brought “cohesion, clarity and shared purpose” to grades five through eight.  He’s also unified staff around common goals and created a culture of belonging and academic excellence.

 

Wilmsen and other district principals of the year were honored at a recent banquet in Indianapolis.

 

"We are incredibly proud of his commitment to our students and staff," said La Porte Schools Superintendent Dr. Sandra Wood.
