(St. Joseph County, IN) - Amazon has announced plans to invest $15 billion in northern Indiana to build additional data centers.

 

Those would be in addition to the one already under construction outside New Carlisle.

 

Amazon said it will add 1,100 new jobs and 2.4 gigawatts of data center capacity to the region. The company did not reveal where specifically they might be looking to add more data centers.

 

Despite speculation, La Porte County officials maintain no formal requests for a data center have been submitted to county government. 

 

The company also disclosed an energy agreement with NIPSCO, saying it will benefit customers and strengthen the state's electric grid.  

 

Governor Mike Braun called the agreement a “massive win” for ratepayers.
