(Michigan City, IN) - A Michigan City sex offender is being put behind bars for a long time.

Demarcus Williams has been given a 40 year prison sentence.  He was about to stand trial last month when he decided to plead guilty to attempted rape, child molesting and burglary.  Authorities say the 35 year old Williams was arrested after several phone calls were placed to 911.  The calls were about a suspect breaking into homes and trying to sexually assault several victims during a two hour timeframe in 2020.

On one occasion, authorities said neighbors heard the screams of a woman and stopped her from being raped by yelling at Williams, who took off running.
