Dismissed Charges Refiled in Murder

(Michigan City, IN) - A man whose murder charge was dismissed is again accused of being involved in the fatal shooting in Michigan City.

Cevin Crawford, 27, of Michigan City is now charged with aiding, inducing or causing murder after additional evidence was collected and presented to a judge who ruled there was probable cause for him to answer to the allegations.  Crawford was ordered to be held in the La Porte County Jail on $1 million cash bond.

After his murder charge was dismissed on August 19, authorities later charged Daquvay Sherrod, 35, of Michigan City with murder for the death. How Crawford allegedly assisted with the murder was not revealed.  Dante Sellers, 25, of La Porte was fatally shot August 3 near Matey’s, a restaurant and bar near the lakefront.  Police said the shooting happened following a heated verbal exchange inside the establishment.
