(La Porte County, IN) - A teenager was given a court date for driving nearly twice the speed limit on Johnson Road outside La Porte. 

Jacob Long, 18, was given a summons to appear in court for reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor.  La Porte County Police said an officer about 1 p.m. on Saturday clocked a 2008 Chevy Impala operated by Long at 83 miles per hour near the Indiana Toll Road overpass.  The speed limit on Johnson Road is 45 miles per hour.  Long must appear in La Porte Superior Court 3 on December 5 or a warrant could be issued for his arrest, police said.  The charge could bring an up to 60 day jail sentence and maximum $500 fine.
