(La Porte, IN) - The ice skating rink in downtown La Porte will return for the season.  Once again, it’ll be at State and Monroe streets beginning the day after Thanksgiving through Winterfest, which runs January 23-25.

Park Department Superintendent Mark Schreiber said there was an 80 percent increase in the number of people using the rink last year over the previous season.  “That means more families are enjoying a healthy winter activity while visiting our downtown,” he said.

The rink is refrigerated so there’s ice when temperatures rise above freezing.  Schreiber said promotions such as Free Skate Fridays will be offered again this year as well as sponsorship opportunities for the rink.  For more information, go to the park department website.
