(La Porte, IN) - A woman is in the La Porte County Jail after overdosing with warrants out for her arrest.
Kristin Vanschoyk, 37, of Michigan City is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine, both Level 6 felonies, along with failure to return to lawful detention, a Level 6 felony, for allegedly not returning to the work release center as required under a previous conviction.
According to authorities, Vanschoyk on Friday went to the home of a cousin at Maple Tree Apartments in La Porte and injected methamphetamine in her bathroom. A short time later, she was found slumped over in a chair by her cousin who called 911.
Police said firefighters and paramedics in response to her shallow breathing and not responding gave her Narcan to alleviate the symptoms of her overdose.
She woke up and was taken by ambulance to a hospital where less than a gram of methamphetamine and cocaine were allegedly recovered from her pants pockets.
According to police, she had multiple warrants out for her arrest. She was being held in the La Porte County Jail on over $20,000 bond.
