(La Porte, IN) - A Union Mills man is accused of being drunk while leading police on a recent vehicle and foot chase.
David Williams , 48, was still being held in the La Porte County Jail on charges of operating while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement, both Level 6 felonies.
Police said Williams last Friday ran a red light in La Porte, triggering a chase down several streets. Eventually, Williams turned down an alley in the area of Lincolnway and Tyler St., slowed down then jumped out of the vehicle, police said.
During a foot pursuit, he was struck with a taser gun and taken into custody.
Police said his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the .08 percent legal limit. Williams could face a one to six year sentence on each count. The OWI charge was upgraded from a misdemeanor due to a prior OWI conviction in St. Joseph County.
