(Michigan City, IN) - A Michigan City man is facing allegations that he had multiple sexual encounters with a child.

 

Billy Cannon, 66, is charged in La Porte Superior Court 1 with five counts of Level 1 felony and Level 4 felony child molesting along with Level 3 felony rape.  Two misdemeanor counts of resisting law enforcement and inappropriate communication with a child were also filed against him.

 

According to Michigan City Police, an investigation included a search of his residence Friday where evidence was found to substantiate the allegations made by the victim.  He and the victim knew each other.

 

Police said further details about the alleged crimes were not revealed because of the investigation still being ongoing.

 

Judge Jamie Oss ordered the arrest Monday by ruling evidence from the case presented to her was sufficient enough to have Cannon answer to the allegations.

 

He was being held in the La Porte County Jail on $100,000 bond.
