(La Porte County, IN) - The public is invited to a town hall type meeting about data centers Saturday outside La Porte.
La Porte County Commissioner Steve Holifield, who called for the meeting, said people can share what they would like to see in a data center ordinance that will start being worked on soon.
People can also ask questions.
“We’ll answer what we can and take information from them on what they would like to see in the ordinance,” he said.
The meeting beginning at 9 a.m. will be at the Scipio Township Volunteer Fire Department at 1105 W. 250 South.
The La Porte County Planning Commission is expected to discuss the drafting of a data center ordinance at its next meeting on November 25 at 6 p.m. at the La Porte County Complex in downtown La Porte.
The meeting is in response to concerns expressed recently during a county commissioners meeting about the potential negative impacts of a data center.
Most of the people speaking reside in the area of Indiana 39 and 400 South where they fear a data center could be looking to build due to reports of landowners being approached by realtors about selling.
