From Winless to Football Sectional Title Shot

(La Porte, IN) - After not winning a game last season, the La Porte High School football team will play for the sectional title Friday at home against Michigan City.  The Slicers (4-6) seem to be playing their best football of the season going into the game with the Wolves (7-3).

Our voice of the Slicers, Ben Davis said he believes the Slicers have a shot at an upset if they limit mistakes and keep the game relatively low scoring to counter what can be an explosive Wolves offense.  “I feel La Porte has more of a chance to hang around and sneak out a win late. I think they can beat Michigan City,” he said.

Ben also said it’s incredible for La Porte to have gone from a winless season to playing for the sectional title at home against a major rival.  He said it’s been fun watching the team this year get better each game.  “They’ve grown up.  They’ve gotten bigger.  They’ve gotten stronger. They’ve gotten a little bit faster. They’re more disciplined.  I’m really excited about seeing where the product is Friday night,” he said.

The kick off at Kiwanis Field is scheduled for 7 p.m.   Our live broadcast on 96.7 The Eagle is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show.
