(La Porte County, IN) - The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public hearing on November 17 on a proposed roundabout outside La Porte.

 

A single lane roundabout with a truck apron is proposed at Indiana 2 and 500 West.

 

According to INDOT, the hearing will provide an opportunity for the public to interact with the project team, review the unique features of the proposed intersection improvement project and provide official public comment on the plans.

 

INDOT said the project is need to reduce the high frequency of crashes at the intersection.

 

The hearing will take place at the La Porte County Public Library Exchange at 807 Indiana Avenue.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow the public to view displays and talk with the project team before the presentation with public comment begins at 6 p.m.

 

All verbal statements recorded during the public hearing and all written comments submitted prior to, during and for two weeks following the hearing will be evaluated, considered and addressed before a final decision is made on the proposed work, according to INDOT.
