Arrests in Killings of Pet Dogs

(La Porte County, IN) - Arrests have been made for the killing of two dogs in La Porte County.

John Lowe, 58, is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with two counts of killing a domestic animal and obstruction of justice, all Level 6 felonies.

Hayden Lowe, 22, is charged with obstruction of justice.

According to La Porte County Police, the investigation began when a pet owner residing in the area of 150 North and 500 West reported she found her beagle deceased on a nearby parcel of property.

The police report indicates the dog suffered an undisclosed injury to the rib cage area.  A chocolate lab belonging to the woman missing at the time was later found dead, police said.

No light was shed on that animal’s cause of death.

Police said information developed from the investigation alleges the older Lowe was responsible for both deaths while the younger Lowe discarded the chocolate lab at another location.

Both La Porte area men, who were taken into custody Sunday, later posted bond.
