Sample Promoted to First Sergeant

(Indianapolis, IN)- A La Porte native has been promoted within the ranks of the Indiana State Police. Jason E. Sample has attained the rank of First Sergeant.  According to a press release from ISP, First Sergeant Sample will serve as an Internal Investigations Coordinator for the Department.

Sample, who is from La Porte County, grew up in Three Oaks, Michigan.  He graduated from River Valley High School in 1991 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (reserve).  At Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, Sample earned a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement Specialists in 1996.  He has been a Trooper assigned to the Lowell Post since 1997. 

Sample has served on the North Field Operations Emergency Response Team, the Domestic Cannabis Eradication and Suppression Program as District Coordinator, the Gang Response Investigative Team, Domestic Highway Enforcement Initiative Manager, and as a Polygraph Examiner.  He has served the Department as a defensive tactics instructor since 2006.

He and his family reside in La Porte County.
