(La Porte, IN) - A stretch of U.S.35 in La Porte will be closed for an extended period beginning next week.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the highway also known as Indiana Ave. will be closed beginning on or after Monday between Marion St and Crescent Dr.
U.S. 35 will be closed through the end of November for reconstruction of the intersection of Kingsbury Ave, Woodlawn Dr and U.S. 35 and road reconstruction of U.S. 35 in that area of the city.
Road reconstruction will include pavement replacement, storm sewer, water main, and sanitary sewer work. The official detour will follow Indiana 2, Indiana 39 and U.S. 6.
According to INDOT, the work is part of the U.S. 35/Indiana Ave pavement replacement and utilities project from Boyd Blvd to Indiana 2.
Construction will continue in 2026 with closures on U.S. 35 between Marion St and Indiana 2.
