LakeFest Concert Draws Good-Sized Crowd

(La Porte, IN) - Rain followed by threatening skies didn’t seem to hurt attendance for the musical entertainment Saturday evening during Lakefest.

Many people danced in front of the stage at Fox Park during the opening act followed by Pop star Jesse McCartney, who had a number of hit singles in the late 90’s to early 2000’s.

Sierra Brown, who’s in her 30’s, came from Michigan City to see McCartney.

“Absolutely,” said Brown when asked if she was big fan of his while growing up.

Brooke Jasinski of New Carlisle said she came with her mother, who is also a McCartney fan.

“Back when I was a teenager, he was hot back then so we listened to him a lot,” she said.

Rain, which led to a number of Lakefest events being cancelled Saturday, stopped for the rest of the evening before the live music started playing about 6 p.m.

“So far, so good, tonight,” said La Porte Park Department Superintendent Mark Schreiber.

The threatening skies resulted in the fireworks show that night being postponed.  Schreiber said the fireworks show will be rescheduled but when has not been decided yet.
