(La Porte, IN) - Medical debt is a major financial barrier for hard-working Hoosiers across the state. To help people navigate crippling medical expenses, two upcoming information meetings are scheduled.

 

The Health Foundation of La Porte is teaming up with the Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute to host “Medical Debt Know Your Rights” workshops. They will offer step-by-step strategies Hoosiers can take to respond to mounting medical bills and possibly reduce them, as well as additional tools to assist them with addressing their healthcare costs.

 

The first workshop will take place Wednesday, July 30 at 9 a.m. Another one is scheduled for Thursday, August 7 at 5:30 p.m. They’re both virtual meetings online. Registration links are below.

 

The state legislature recently announced that lawmakers will be studying medical debt in this year's interim study session.
