(La Porte County, IN) - A driver apparently crashed in La Porte County before getting arrested for being impaired.

 

Sara Jerde, 25, is charged with Class A misdemeanor operating while intoxicated.

 

La Porte County Police said she was pulled over about 2:30 a.m. yesterday in the 6100 block of W. Joliet Road for veering over the center line and not having her taillights on.

 

The officer then realized her car was damaged from what appeared to be a crash.

 

Police said the La Porte woman could not remember being involved in a collision and nearly fell several times after stepping out of her car.

 

Her alleged blood alcohol level was .284 percent, well above the .08 percent legal limit.  Poilce said it appears the car struck some type of "circular device" at some point before stopped.
