Area Student Is Ninja Warrior Fighting Hunger

(Las Vegas, NV) - A local college student is overcoming obstacles, literally, to combat hunger.

University of Notre Dame student Austin Baron is competing on American Ninja Warrior, the popular NBC show that pits physically fit contestants against an obstacle course.

The 19-year-old, originally from Virginia, will be a sophomore at Notre Dame. When he was 12, Baron founded a non-profit called Knot Perfect that sells knotted fabric dog toys to raise money to feed the hungry. $10, he says, will provide over 30 meals to people in need. Two years ago on American Ninja Warrior, Baron raised enough money to feed 40,000 people.

On Monday he was one of nine people to complete the show’s obstacle course and advance.

You can see him tackle the course again this coming Monday evening on NBC. To check out Austin’s hunger-fighting doggie toys, go to www.knotperfect.org.
